Mrs Darwin This poem is based on the development of Darwins theory of evolution. The voice of the poem is his wife. The poem is suggesting that Mrs Darwin was the brains or the catalyst behind the theory. The date of the poem is '1852' which was before Darwin produced his theory. This presents a feminist aspect to the poem. The poem is short and to the point which contrasts to the theory that Darwin developed. Again Carol Ann Duffy may be suggesting that women can do things much quicker and simpler than men. The use of the word 'Chimpanzee' again links back to the theory of evolution. Darwin is compared to it readers may interpret this as Darwin not being fully evolved yet himself.
